Time and again, fashion forecasters and paint companies weigh in on the colour of the year, creating hype for their respective shade of choice.

This year, the maker of Colorplan G.F Smith takes matters into its own hands, conducting a six-month online survey to name the “world’s favourite colour”. The result? Marrs Green.

Marrs Green is a rich, green-blue with dark undertones, bearing the name of Annie Marrs, the fine arts graduate who submitted the colour for consideration

The online poll received around 30,000. Of course, Marrs Green has been added to 50 fantastic colours of the Colorplan range.

The remarkable thing is that once Marrs Green was announced as the world’s favourite colour, one could see it everywhere, like on the walls of some restaurants in Reykjavik, for example. We think that this choice alludes to beautiful nature — even Jökulsarlon in Iceland leans towards either green or blue depending on the light. And yes, even our wardrobe has a Marrs Green touch.
